I wouldn't worry about mercury in canned chicken. Tuna

is known to have rather high mercury content. I have

once ever 2 months or so.

News Extract:

Dr. Cohen: Fish can contain contaminants, and in particular, are a leading source of exposure to mercury. Mercury is a neurotoxin and can pose a risk to the developing nervous system. As a result, the mercury in fish consumed by women of child-bearing age can pose a risk to unborn children.http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/515070

If you take a fish oil or cod liver oil supplement, check if processing has been employed to remove mercury. I once saw a Blackmores advert that made this claim.

As far as I know chickens are not exposed to mercury.
