Guest guest
Barb:It's interesting, and perhaps unfortunate, that it is merely listed as capable of delivering 240 CFM.I ask, against what static pressure? Is this against an eighth of an inch of pressure, or a half an inch of pressure? As the resistance to air flow goes up, the longer the ductwork and the more elbows, the lower the air flow.A fan curve displaying this relationship should be included. Guest guest
Bearg, I haven't gotten that far, to determine distance or configuration. This is one job I wish I could get professional help with but I have looked through the local listings and don't see anyone listing any credentials in ventilation but in answer to your question. I just wish I could get some fresh air in house. What type of credentials shall I look for? Simply opening the windows doesn't work out well here for some reason. The fresh air doesn't get where it needs to go, and the air conditioner or heater has to work too hard. I haven't been able to solve all the indoor air problems in this old house, finding them has been difficult. There are odors here and there but can't find the source, so ventiliating seems like the logical next step until any problems I have 'show up' so I can fix them. One area with odor problem is basement since I sealed it off, odor has become evident. The plumber says that some old houses the drain system are clay and may have cracked over time, not holding water in J pipes and allowing sewer gasses to leak in to house, so that is one thing I will be investigating. Basically though I though I would put ventiliation system in and then prepare to sell house because it is really beyond my pocketbook to fix an old house like this up constantly but I've made a lot of improvements. Problem has to do with my own health being fragile. I'll reveal what I know but really indoor air quality people have not been able to find any evidence of mold per se, but it may have other issues. One person said 'you sure you want to live here?', not because she tested it and it came out badly because her testing didn't reveal anything unusual, but because it is very old and evidence of some problems here and there, visually identified and I have health problems. I used to live here with visible mold in basement and damaged foundation...I just was healthy enough for it not to bother me but I'm not anymore able to handle these indoor issues. > > Barb: .. > > It's interesting, and perhaps unfortunate, that it is merely listed as capable of delivering 240 CFM. > > > I ask, against what static pressure? Guest guest
All of that is available on their site and also in the HVI book. Jim Barb Panasonic fans are very well built and very energy efficient so that they do not cost anywhere as much to run as the rest of the Broan/Newtone set, where minimum first cost is often the only consideration. Jim Product sources I'm shopping for ventilation equipment and this looks like a good source for some good indoor air quality products.http://www.iaqsource.com/product.php?p=panasonic_fv-20nlf1 & product=111090 & utm_source=amazon-pads & utm_medium=cpc
