Guest guest
Hello drainers of the world, I saw a new patient today who is 66 year old woman with chronic pain all over her body and burning in her GI tract from top to bottom constantly. Italian Catholic raised on the east coast. Fascinating history: breech birth, she and her mom injured in a circus fire (the tent burned and fell on the crowds) at 18 months, polio at age 2 causing paralysis from the neck down followed by many surgeries, braces, wheelchairs, and casts til age 11. Parents divorced (age 2), adopted and raised by her grandparents, moved to Calif away from her Mom at age 8 and didn't see her mom again til age 11 when Mom also moved out, now remarried. Bio dad never involved after age 2. Basically in physical and emotional pain her whole life. Turned to drugs as an adult, mostly speed in one form or another because it gave her energy. Used alcohol to take the edge off. Currently works in real estate and property management and "I force myself to have energy." Very sympathetic dominant. Very positive mental attitude. Believes she will heal. Lots of temperature dysregulation. Cold hands and feet but has a "hot head" most of the time. It isn't hot to the touch but she feels like she's burning up. When she relaxes she feels a wave of heat that begins at her chest and radiates throughout her body and she says she can feel her nerves and her veins. Has taken care of and lost several dear friends to cancer. Definitely a caretaker and under a lot of stress. Recently diagnosed with H. Pylori and treated with Prevacid and antibiotics. GI pain and general pain are all worse since then. Drinking liquid probiotics and aloe vera juice have not helped. Even prior to the H. Pylori treatment she has had chronic diarrhea and is on Imodium or she loses bowel control. Many antibiotics in childhood with all of her surgeries. All food and liquid now cause pain. Recently had a violent reaction to wheat; pain diarrhea and bleeding. craves chicken, cream of brown rice cereal and almond milk. Sleeps heavily but wakes up 2-3 times to pee and wakes up soaked from the chest up. Nose runs severely every am. Hard time holding urine. Major car accident 5 years ago aggravated everything and raised her blood pressure. Now controlled by meds and can't get off of them. No other meds other than occasional exedrine for a headache. History of severe and frequent migraines that were healed with cranio-sacral. Started period age 9 and finished at 54. No HRT. Bloodwork show mild metabolic syndrome. She craves carbos. No more drugs or alcohol for many years. So, dear Unda buddies, her gut is calling out for help but I want to find the best way to start with her that won't aggravate her already painful GI lining. Biopsies of her gut show stomach ulcer and duodenal inflammation. Obviously inflammation is at the root of her problems. Since everything she eats and drinks hurts her gut I assume she's inflamed throughout her system. I have some ideas of how to start but wanted some input to give me the best shot at helping her feel better quickly. I'm assuming her hot heads are liver congestion or post-polio temperature issues but would warming socks help draw the heat down? I never had the hydro therapy training as you naturopaths did so I welcome your opinions.
