Q.S. is an abbreviation for quantum sufficiat, quantum sufficit, and quantum

satis, Latin phrases which all mean " as much as suffices " or " quantity

required. "

So when you see, preservative, color and fragrance qs, that would mean add as

much as is required. When you see water qs, that usually means to add suffient

water so the

formula = 100%.

It is a phamaceutical lab term also. It means bring to the mark when

using measuring devices such as a volumetric flask.
