Guest guest
You can et the same results, Steve, as long as you get and keep good connections. The higher the impedance--the resistance to passage of the signal between the scalp and the electrode metal--the poorer your signal will be and the more likely you are to have electromagnetic fields enter artifact into the signal. Standard electrodes are much less expensive (make sure you get molded, not stamped electrodes), but you should either get an amplifier that measures impedance or get an impedance meter, which significantly increases the cost. Otherwise you are likely to have a signal on the screen that has little to do with what is happening in the brain. Site finding and lead placement are the two real skill functions a trainer must master, and it is startling to see how many people train, sometimes even professionally, with minimal ability to perform these tasks. The result is...well, poor results. If you are going to spend some time learning the skill of placing the electrodes, then you can definitely save a few hundred bucks not getting the ActivEEG's. Pete Would anyone like to chime in regarding the advantages of ActivEEGelectrodes? They aren't cheap and I've just made a substantial investment insoftware and equipment already. If I can get the same results without them then I'd like to try doing that for a while.Thanks- Steve -- Van Deusen pvdtlc@...http://www.brain-trainer.com305/433-3160The Learning Curve, Inc. Guest guest
I am very happy with my choice to buy Active Electrodes. They are noticably better than my previous setup. Good luck raising the funds > > Would anyone like to chime in regarding the advantages of ActivEEG > electrodes? > > They aren't cheap and I've just made a substantial investment in > software and equipment already.
