Guest guest
Having to record lot numbers is a brilliant idea. I think you should sit down on the mothers bed and ask her to open her sample pack and read out the lot number to you. Then explain to her you're recording it in case something is wrong with it and they have to do a recall or notify all the parents whose babies have had it and will now get sick. You could finish the conversation off by saying 'aren't you lucky you're breastfeeding - would you like me to throw this in the bin now so you won't ever be tempted to use it?' Great educational opportunity! Lori - I thought you were baby friendly. What are you doing with baby bottles of sterile water? **************************************************** Fisher, BN, RM, IBCLC BreastEd Online Lactation Studies Course http://www.breasted.com.au mailto:denise@... ****************************************************
Guest guest
I love it...but I suspect the powers that be...who most likely bottle-fed their own children...wouldn't care too much for it. Not in my little hospital, anyway. Guest guest
That was Jan who was baby friendly....our hospital has a long way to go before we get rid of bottles.....we are having an increase in breast feeding, but are limited in teaching due to a largely Puerto Rican population that has minimal English when it comes to breastfeeding. We have only 4 nurses on our unit who speak Spanish..and none of them at night..I speak a very little bit, but breastfeeding is not in my volcabulary of Spanish at this point....Buenas Dias! Guest guest
I beleive that " leche " is breastfeeding, we also have a deficit in spanish, I do alot of pantomime and can count to 20 in spanish, the biggest problem is that the hispanic population beleive that there is no milk at all for the first few days, our goal is to try and keep the artifical nipple out of the babies mouth and use alternatives if mom insists on giving formula.......and try to encourage them to breast feed first then give supplement if they insist.....sue kemper1974@... wrote: > > That was Jan who was baby friendly....our hospital has a long way to > go > before we get rid of bottles.....we are having an increase in breast > feeding, > but are limited in teaching due to a largely Puerto Rican population > that has > minimal English when it comes to breastfeeding.
