If you could scan the pictures you have, and briefly explain it to the group, that would be great! So far, my only positive tests arre LUATS. WB and elisa equivocal. Doed anyone know who Dr. Shoemaker's colleague in CA is, and how to contact them? Lets get better,
Guest guest
-- OK here goes...attached are the scanned pictures from my tests that were done at the Bowen Lab. Picture #1--flourescant antibody stain. This shows the destroyed red blood cells and stained it shows the lyme infected areas---at least that is the way I understand it. Picture #2---This picture shows again affected cells (destroyed red blood cells and stain to show the lyme areas. Picture #3--Flourescant lyme antibody stain. Picture #4--this one shows the erichiosis and babesiosis. Last picture #5 --Phase contrast test---shows infected red blood cells. I know these are big pictures, but hopefully you can see what the tests look like when they come back from Bowen Lab. You do not get just something on a piece of paper that says positive or negative. You actually get to see what the specimans look like under the electron microscope. It really freaked me out the first time I saw them. But I guess now I am used to seeing that my blood is really screwed up!!! Rhonna in OHIO KCCOTNER@... wrote: Rhonna, Supposedly Bowen is looking for lyme, babesia, and erlichia. Minor point: A light microscope was used, not an electron microscope. If you want me to, I'll post the pictures on my site. This would make easy access for others. When he had GERD before, it was only after tube feedings, then he'd vomit and it was over until the next feed.
Guest guest
Sue- Holly started her period when she was 11. I told her that it was part of being a " big girl " (which she thinks is very important) - and we did something special that day to Celebrate (went out for ice cream- can't remember exactly) I told her that wearing a pad is sort of uncomfortable- but she will get used to it. I had to do lots of reminders to change it- but she does it now without asking. We also told her that it was " private " . Although I got a good chuckle- we went to the store to buy pads- and she was soooo pleased that when she got home she announced to her brother- rather proudly... " Look, I've got pads! " There are some nice books about getting your period- American girls has one called " The body book for girls " that is pretty nice and explains all these things. M. Guest guest
HI Diane, I don't usually get time to post here often lately , I just about get enough time to scan the digests for a read. Anyway I just spotted your post and wanted to reply as I was in a similar situation to you in May 2004. I'm 28, I have MS 5 years and myself and my partner didnt' plant o have kids quite yet but I fell pregnant in May 2004. It was a mighty shock to us and to be honest we were dead scared about it all an dwondered what we would do. Anyway I went ahead with the pregnancy...I stopped LDN straight away. For the first trimester I didnt' feel great...not MS stuff but usual pregnancy stuff with horrible nausea and fatigue.BUT then everything started getting better when I got into the second trimester...my MS went into total remission from the second trimester on I had absolutey NO MS symptoms at all It was great..I had buckets of energy. Myself and my partner made alto of changes...we moved back to my home town and lived with my Mum for a few months and we got a mortgage to buy our own house....this was all alot of work but so worth it now. I was due to have baby about February 24th but she arrived prematurely. My waters broke 5 and a half weeks premature....It wasn't any major problem though as I jsut went to hospital and went into proper labour three days later and then had the most amazing birth. I wanted to have as natural a birth as possible and it worked out great. Ava was born on 20th January and weighed 5lb 10oz, she was born very healthy apart from jaundice which alto of babies get anyway. To be safe they kept her in Neo-natal care for a week which was hard for us as we had to go home without her and travel up an down everyday. I breastfed her exclusively formthe start and I'm so proud I did casue it did her so much good! Teh breastfeeding was of benefit to me too....teh hormones when you breastfeed woul dbe someway similar to pregnancy so many with MS who breastfeed do well. I didnt' get a relpase,,,some people do,,,,I was careful with my diet an dsupplemetns and to rest as much as possible which isn't easy with a baby. Ava is now nearly 9 months and I'm really beginning to enjoy being a Mum now. I won't say it's been easy, it's been the hardest year of our lives but I wouldnt' change it for the world. Producing another human is so amazing......I still think wow we produced this little girl! She's beginning to settle a bit better now..but it was hard going up till lately as she has her moments But she great fun, and things are beginning to get easier I think. I couldnt' imagine life without her now and even though I have MS I still manage ok. I'm back on LDN by the way..onyl back on it a month as Ava is only weaned fully from the breast a month. I started weaning her slowly at 5 months but wanted to keep her on some breastmilk for as long as possible. Anyway I don't know what else I can tell you, I suppose all you can do is what we did and that's to think hard what the right decision for you and your family is. You have to take everyone into account. Dont' assume because you have MS though that you can't have kids. The birth shouldn't affect you any differently to an non MSer.....if you have leg problems and have a long labour and find it hard energy wise the worst that can happen is a c-section and there's nothing bad about that..you and baby will come out fine at other end. I ahve some info on my webstie about my pregnancy at http://edwina.sail.to it needs updating though, I've not added anything since my third trimester as I haven'thad time. I hope to get around to it soon as a few people who visit my site and are considering starting a family would like to read my whole story. It's a never ending story now though Life with a baby is hard work but it's when you see them grow through the months and develop you will be amazed. Last month Ava learned how to kiss, it is so cute....I always said the word "kiss" to her when I kissed and cuddled her from when she was a tiny newborn and she knows damn well what kiss means and has become quite affectionate...but her kisses involve opening her mouth and putting drool all over my face and she grabs my hair and pulls at the same time....everyone gets a great laugh out of it Anyway I'll stop boring you. If you'd like to ask me any other questions just email me at @... I'd be more than happy to help in any way I can. Take good care Message: 13 Date: Fri, 07 Oct 2005 10:48:07 -0000 From: "citybluecat" <d.raphael@...>Subject: MS & PregnancyCan anyone please help me. I've recently found out that I'm pregnant. I'm in complete turmoil as to what to do. I have RRMS and was taking LDN, which of course I immediately stopped, but this pregnancy wasn't planned, I'm not hugely maternal and neither is my partner and we are both so scared of what the pregancy will do to me and how we will cope after the birth. He struggles with my MS anyway, let alone having an unplanned baby to look after as well.I have heard that some people go into remission while pregnant, has this happened to anyone, and how have you been after? Please help, I can't stop crying and don't know what to do.A very very scared Diane http://edwina.sail.to To help you stay safe and secure online, we've developed the all new Security Centre.
