Guest guest
Currently there are 16 ongoing trials (not yet published results) involving IBS and autism. The connection between the 2 seemingly different problems is the tie to neurological disorders. http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct/gui/action/SearchAction?term=Constipation gives all the current trials that are ongoing. http://www.lef.org/protocols/prtcl-157a.shtml based upon a clinical trial that shows positive results http://www.remedyfind.com/rem.asp?ID=6895 (right hand column notes that clinical trials helped develop the treatment plan) http://www.autismwebsite.com/ari/dan/scientificfoundations.htm lists 28 studies done by DAN (Defeat Autism Now Institute) on what is successful against autism There are 43000+ listings in Google for “IBS AUTISM CLINICAL TRIALS” as a search parameter. Before I spend much more time on this, what exactly is trying to be proven? Are you in need of a treatment for Autism or IBS or both? Does she want proof there are effective non-drug treatments? Guest guest
Just came across this posting, saw the other first… need LDN tied in with this? NO problem. www.pubmed.com place “NALTREXONE AUTISM” in search string and get 61 hits on how Naltrexone effects opiate receptors and consequently the effects it has on autism. Need more? Guest guest
She's one who must have scientific proof clinical trial proof from official medical journals that Naltrexone showed some success in the treatment of Autism and IBS. Her nephew has autism and I suggested she do a search for naltrexone for autism but she claims everything she finds is not the official clinical trial results and only anecdotal reporting. She has IBS herself but before she takes any drug she must have its clinical trial results from official medical journal publications. I suggested she have her sister look into Naltrexone treatment for her son with autism. I think she needs a shrink more than anything...I shouldn't have said that but that's what I'm thinking, LOL. Guest guest
Here are the first 20 in the 60+ listed. This goes back to 1996. In essence, the reviews are a mixed bag showing modest gains, but nothing outstanding. That said, I personally would rather see some help than no help with no side effects. I guess the question I would pose to her would be why she wants to relegate the child to no chance whatsoever? Is it not better to try something without side effects and see modest gains than do nothing? Does she dislike her child so much that she is not willing to try? I run into this mentality several times a week and for the life of me I will never understand why people refuse to try. I will do the other 40 odd reports for you, if you wish, but right now I am tied up with another research project.
