Guest guest
----- Original Message ----- Are we talking about the same thing here? By Pampers do you mean disposable baby nappies (diapers)? Aren't they are bit big and bulky to be using for peri pads? Yes, , we sure are! They may be pretty big, but then those hospital-issue peri pads are pretty darn big too, and a whole lot rougher on a sore perineum--I swear those things were made by a masochist! At least Pampers a pretty soft, and with the newborn size, they aren't so big either. ----------Jeanine

Hey I'm always willing to learn more. >> Yes diposable diapers, you simply open them up at the " tape " end (ours are velcro) but they pull apart very easily, use your hand to seperate the liner from the stuffing inside, pour in chipped ice (not cubes, oouch!), and then fold over several times and reseal with the tape. We add a piece of wide tape as well to really secure it. They fit perineums eprfectly and are soft and absorbant (don't I sound like a diaper commercial?). Not too bulky either. Guest guest
Velcro diapers??? Boy Jan, your place sounds really fancy. Question for the group..do any of your hospitals record the lot numbers of the formula given away as samples in gift bags??? Jacho came thru today and wants us to do it for each patient. Never heard of this one!!! Lori

Guest guest
The rationale for recording lot numbers of samples was in case the formula ever got recalled. Seems to me it's a bunch of busy work, esp. in a large hospital. Imagine if you had to record the lot number of every free sample you ever recieved in case it was tainted??? I guess my kids would never eat any grocery store samples again!!! LOL I am not sure if we are going to be recording the info yet, I heard our manager was going to research this further. Guest guest
Hooray!!! I'm so glad you are able to be baby friendly. I wish we were brave enough to do this. But, it is such a strong cultural taboo here amongst the poor to NOT breastfeed their babies. It is considered to be a sign of rising above poverty to bottlefeed their babies. I know, I know, it's all screwed up. We're working very hard to reverse the trend and remove the cultural taboos. It's a difficult road and we've been working it quite a while. I think we have made some headway. I can see small, measurable differences.
