Guest guest
Hello and hugs to all, I haven't written in along time, but I am still her. I have some news though. I don't know really whether to break down and cry or to just be happy that my girls do get at least most of the services they need. As most of you know Angel, my oldest child with autism. She can hear quite well thank God! Well, now my youngest is needing the most care. She is now 7 and all of a sudden she has lost most of her hearing if that isn't hard enough *gulp now the drs find that she has congenital glacoma. This story does not end there. As soon as the school learned of her glacoma they decided to evaluated her. The dr sent a statement predicting that Rebekah will begin to loose her sight with in a year *cry. This child was born normal except that she did share Rieger's syndrome with her sister. So, Rebekah's pupils are oval like a cat's eyes (Rieger's anomaly) Rebekah is now registered with commission for the blind, and the TEA and will be receiving vision services based on teacher consult once a month as well as changing and organizing things with big letters and colors should she go blind. I am still in such shock. It's tough when a child is born with a disability but even tougher to have a normal child and then she ends up disabled. On a good note though, Angel is going to Austin this week to the school for the blind for a kitchen/cooking work shop. Angel is packed and all excited and Rebekah is ready to get rid of her " giggle " In spite of the news of Rebekah both girls continue to make straight A's in school. Angel still does not receive any services under autism but she is really getting the help for it at this time under vision services.
