I know I must be a pain in the rear asking questions all the time but I'm

curious as to if any of you do any other ab work besides what's done in Tae

Bo. I guess that would also depend on how often you do Tae Bo and if it's

the ones with ab work. I've heard that those who do Tae Bo have fabulous

results and just wonder if it's from Tae Bo alone. TIA!

In my boxing class, we rotate stations, three of which are

ab " stations. " There are six 3-minute sets, with one-minute btwn

each (in which some lollygag and others run around the gym). We are

assigned partners for this part of the workout...one person lies

down, butt at the end of the mat with legs bent so feet face the

standing partner...the standing partner throws a medicine ball (a

weighted ball weighing 9, 12, or 15 pounds), at your feet, and you

kick it back at your partner, using your lower abs; I do 30 reps.

The second set is sitting at the edge of the mat with legs bent,

catching the ball, lying all the way back with arms (and ball)

overhead, and throwing the ball back to your partner as you rise. I

do 40 of those. On the second mat, we sit, facing each other, and

link left leg to left leg, then toss the ball back and forth lying

back and throwing as you sit up; then you switch, linking right

legs...I like to do 20 on the left/20 on the right. The second set

is sitting facing each other, legs linked (hard to describe)...one

person takes the ball, lies back with arms and ball overhead, sits

halfway up holding elbows into sides and twists -- left, right, left,

right, lay back with arms overhead, toss to partner as you come up;

then partner does it (I love that one!) On the last mat, you don't

need your partner...you bend your knees, soles of the feet together,

and pull your abs in while you crunch up part way and hold

isometrically...stop when you get tired...resume when ready and pulse

the crunch this time...then put feet flat down and crunch to each

side. Second set is taking a medicine ball holding elbows into the

side...sit halfway up with legs bentknee in the air in front, feet

linked...and and twist left, right -- moving your entired upper body

with the motion....then bent leg lifts. It's an awesome ab workout!

I'm getting more definition doing this.

I can't believe how long this post is! I hope you can understand it

and that I didn't bore y'all to death! LOL

I haven't done any other ab exercises except what's done in tae-bo

and I've had some pretty good definition in the stomach just from

that! The key is to really focus on using the ab muscles whenever

you're doing most of the moves, especially the knee raise to the side

and any time you're doing the punches to the front and twisting at

the waist. One of the great things about tae-bo is that as you

progress and get better at holding your balance and doing the moves

properly, you can really get a great ab workout just by doing the

workout! You don't think you're working your abs, but almost every

move incorporates the ab muscles. You just have to make sure you are

keeping your ab muscles tight during the workout and that comes with

time and becoming more familiar with the moves and knowing exactly

what muscles you are working!

You're right. I'm more conscience of using my abs now and I really feel them

in that leg raise! I love when he squats and does the jabs. Work abs, work!!

Hi ,

No, you didn't lose me. :o) I like that! I've seen it in magazines and it

seems to provide a good fun and tiring workout. It's a good challenge

especially throwing it back and forth. I can feel sore abs thinking about it.
