Guest guest
Dear Balwinder  I am sorry that I cud not write earlier-because I was extremely busy with exams and was unable to link my thoughts coherently about this discussion but here I am.  It was nice to read ur mail about naxalites and naxalism; I was really pleased to know that there is a young doctor who has interest in political science. Yeah! as a class 6?7 student back in 1967?68 I had collected one cutting of naxalbari station and also of Charu Majumdaar from the famous magazine 'Dharm-yug' (TOI Publications). (Now discontinued)  I agree very strongly with u that a change is needed. But ends dont justify the means! We have to look at our country in a wider perspective. We are a continent-so many states, so many languages, so many differences in the culture in the hinduism itself. AND ABOVE ALL we are surrounded by hostile countries. If an armed revolt takes place - which no doubt can happen - there wud certainly be anarchy for some time; AND the history will repeat itself; we will be invaded by our western neighbour OR by the mongol breed and once again----(I dont want to even say it!!). As it is History is already repeating itself (Mahmood attacked india 16 times and was defeated, 17th time-Year 1012- he won and blinded and arrested Prithvi Raj, the great last hindu king of Delhi-Chauhan-Tomar Dynasty). Can u NOT appreciate that all these terrorist attacks are like those 16 attacks on the soul of India?  Which brings us back to the terrorist attacks. See there is an inherert difference in the terrorist attacks and the NAXAL strikes. Naxals are US and the terrorists are THEY!! Naxals want to change the political system; terrorists want to annihilate us. I agree that the political system is corrupt to the core BUT democracy is an IDEA. How well we implement this idea is upon us. May I ask u - Did u go and cast ur vote in the last assembly or lok sabha election? Almost NONE of my doctor colleagues had gone-because of frustration;the situation is really desperate. BUT please dont suggest an armed revolt(if u consider the above cited reasons). I believe that u have some nagging doubt about ur own statements-that is why u have said, ''Please do not conclude that I am condoning Naxalite violence " . If u had trust in ur convictions, NOT only u wud have condoned it,u wud have justified it and wud have probably joined them.  Presently at least, democracy is the BEST system of governance known to mankind; maybe we Indians are implementing it in a shabby manner- thats why people like Madhu Koda can accumulate a wealth of 4000 crores in just 4-5 years; OR the swiss banks report that Indian money amounts to 70 lakh crores(???how many zeroes???)and the congress govt does NOT want to even request them to reveal the names, and many of these politicians wud die without ever using that money, and that money(our money) wud become the property of the swiss banks. AND on the other hand thousands are dying for want of food.  The need is NOT to find an alternative form of governance; BUT to implement the democracy in a better manner, so that this great country can remain UNITED, people like Raj Thackeray (and similar ones elsewhere) are routed out and honest and sincere workers can attend to the illnesses of this rich country inhabited by poor people.  Probably, the Election commission shud be given more sweeping powers; OR maybe we shud improve our judicial system first, so that the guilty dont go unpunished,OR may be ACCOUNTABILITY shud be implemented so that public servants become answerable to the supreme court (and thereby public). We (responsible citizens) shud put our heads together-maybe at NGO forums-and find out ways and means to implement democracy in a better manner -without an armed revolt. India is NOT as small as France; is more diverse than entire western Europe and has many incongruent interests.  Winston Churchill had once said, " If we leave them to govern themselves the power will very soon go into the hands of the scoundrels and there wud be anarchy " . Lets prove that he was wrong.  DD Mittal  PS : Also, u haven't suggested WHAT CAN THE COMMON MAN DO AGAINST THE TERRORIST ATTACKS. (If he starts changing the governance- he wud be aiding the terrorists).  From: Rakesh Khera <rkurolyahoo (DOT) com> Subject: Re: Re: To,Balwinder Rana, again To: mgimsyahoogroups (DOT) com Date: Tuesday, 16 February, 2010, 3:51 PM  Cha kar aj hama heelte dar gujshat halal asat burdan kh shamshir dasat  When all modes of reducing a wrong having failed, raising of sword is pious & just                           .....
