Re: Dermatologist Knew about LDN - SHINGLES

Hi Kiki & all, I wanted to open this topic up to the group, i.e.:

Has anyone noticed any link, beneficial or otherwise, between LDN use

& shingles (which can also be brought on by stress etc) or other

infections that they feel could be associated with a particular dosing

regimen of LDN or drug combination?

Medications are modulators (e.g. neuroimmune response) so it seems

conceivable that some may have a different reaction (that may be dose

or other variable dependent) & while researching LDN I remember I came

across one of the few negative testimonials on remedyfind possibly

relevant here where they implicated the development of shingles with

LDN use:

http://www.remedyfind.com/review_long.asp?id=4393 & review_id=19757

Of course there could be other variables there.

Interestingly when I went over the Full conference audio

( http://www.low dose naltrexone.org/_conf2005/Full_Conf_Audio.mp3 ), I

found two references:

@246min:18sec (or 04 hours 06 min 18 sec in hour:min:sec format):

Unidentified woman mentions how she & Dr. Bihari use LDN as a

prophylactic-she reported anecdotally that she gave LDN to a friend &

her shingles which is normally a 3 month progression for her-went away

in a week.

@300min:10sec (or 05 hours 00 min 10 sec in hour:min:sec format):

Context: {Dr. Gluck I believe: mentioned 1 min:20 sec earlier he's

was a specialist in preventive medicine, shares some of the dreams of

LDN} -may see in elderly the possibility of seeing sharp drops in

incidence of painful *shingles-herpes zoster, decreasing cancer rates,

pneumonia-influenza groups, protect aging immune systems, enormous

savings in health care costs.

Note: Some MP3 players use the hour:min:sec format like Windows Media

Player. A good free MP3 player for Windows platform @

http://winamp.com/player/free.php (scroll to Free Download) uses

minutes:sec format by default. Full conference audio is 334:21

minutes or in hour:min format: 05 hours 34 minutes 21 seconds (if you

feel like reviewing above brief references).

Any thoughts, Best Wishes, - Josh

Hi Kiki, so glad to hear you're doing better.

The most compelling part of that Remedyfind case is the

challenge:rechallenge aspect. That is she mentions " I have to say

that I tried the new LDN with the same results. Each time even at

1.5MG, I got more spasticity and my lymph node on the side I had

shingles on started to swell. When I stop the medicine, the stiffness

improves and lymph node goes back to normal. "

Alternatively, perhaps she is one of the few who may have done better

on a lower dose for awhile or there were other variables at play.

When I saw your post & pondered LDN mechanisms, I thought I should

open the topic up to the group.

Shingles incidence increases with age, those who are immunocompromised

and can have a stress component. PostHerpertic Neuralgia (PHN) &

CNS/cranial-ocular involvement can be significant complications so

physician monitoring is important.

I was interested in any link whether favorable (as suggested at the

conference) or otherwise (as suggested by that remedyfind case).

Please keep us informed on how you do Kiki. Best Wishes, Josh

Sounds like this lady's body was trying to rid itself of something bad or toxic

on LDN. I have heard of a few breaking out in a rash on LDN for a short

duration but that is at the very start of LDN therapy.

I think Kiki's shingles may have been triggered by the bee stings she had

recently started taking.
