Guest guest
Tammie, Please be very careful with milk thistle and your ALT/AST readings. There is a warning worth reading at: www.geocities.com/1LeighAnn. Scroll down and click on 'New Milk Thistle Warning' milk thistle may cause the production of an important emzyme to stop. Without the emzyme our livers cannot remove many toxins from our blood - medications are seen as toxins. If certin medications are not removed they could build up to unsafe levels causing more severe side effects or side effects that have not been experinced in trials. Make sure your dr. knows you plan on taking milk thistle. Also, the current issue of Hepatitis Magazine has an article on milk thistle, " Milking It " . Go to www.hepatitismag.com Glenn > Hey Gang, > My biopsy is rescheduled for this Thursday.I went in 2 weeks ago > expecting this appt. that my internest made for me was the real > deal.It was the consultation.See what I get for assuming. > Anyway,I was told to take 3 multi-vits(no iron),800mg.folic acid, and > 800mg.vitimin E daily.Yesterday I bought a bottle of standardized > milk thistle-200 mg.,because I have heard so many people speak of > it.How much of this should I take?Anybody know?Any input would be > greatly appreciated.THANKS, TAM
Guest guest
If you've had problems with a particular brand, perhaps you'd be better served by making a tea from bulk milk thistle, which is available from many healthfood stores. In fact, the tea is superior in that some of the ingredients are lost, detroyed or damaged while processing the lesser expensive capsules. Safeway no doubt is using a cost-conscious manufacturer. I've started using the tea AND capsules. my 2 cents... Bill Bill Asenjo, PhD, CRC Writer; Consultant www.billasenjo.com basenjo@... Happiness is the absence of striving for happiness. Chuang-tzu Re: Milk Thistle Hi tutu, I am using Safeway's brand of milk thistle and have not had any problems. jeet_india_mail wrote: Hi, I started milk thistle purchased from naturesresource.com (U.S. based), but discontinued after 2-3 days because I started feeling pain in liver and fatigue , I don't know why it was happened. So my experience with milk thistle was not so good. If anyone can suggest the manufacturer's name and web address, from where you are purchasing milk thistle right now then it will be helpful for me.
