Guest guest
OK everyone on the Chat site with MS, This question seems very important for our new users. Because we wish them great success utilizing LDN with MS in reducing symptoms and progression we may wish to come up with a consensus on what dosages seem to work best in starting out. The thought behind starting out at lower dosages is that maybe it would be best to slowly get used to LDN and perhaps have less additional symptoms or side effects. But does anyone have experiences that state that this has been working. Someone else on the chat site seemed to think we should start out on higher dosages in order to "knock out" the problems and then lower your dosage to your where your body does best. Dr. Bihari just starts you out on 3.0 or 4.5mg. As far as I know he has not stated that we should start off on lower dosages. Elio on our chat site has pointed out that Dr. ce has stated in one of his protocols "Exceptionally, in about 5% of patients, insomnia and other adverse symptoms may persist for longer than two weeks. In this circumstance, if there is no sign of resolution, the dose should be reduced to just 2 mg taken one each night or, if symptoms are particularly severe, 2 mg every second night." Perhaps someone could ask Skip at Skips pharmacy what he has noticed as far as side effects and increased symptoms and what dosages he would suggest starting with. It might be a good idea for us to have more concrete answers and suggestions for new users. Thanks Aletha [low dose naltrexone] Questions for getting started Hi,I'm happy to say I finally got my LDN prescription after several attempts. I will be faxing it to Skips tomorrow. For those of you who are experienced at this I'd appreciate your input. Here are my questions:First, Do some people make liquid LDN from the capsules/tablets that I will get from Skips? Or is the liquid LDN issue just for the Revia 50mg users?Second, what is now thought to be the best dosage to start at? I've read people doing many different things. I understand that I'm aiming for 4.5mg ultimately. How long would I take to build up to this? I will be getting my LDN in the form of 1.5mg tablets/capsules.Thanks for any advice. Guest guest
when i started LDN a few months ago my doctor wrote the script out according to "Skips protocol" which was starting out at 1.5 for a month then going to 3 mg for a month and depending on how you feel after that increasing to 4.5...that seemed to work good for me, i'm now up to 4.5 mg and doing well.... Guest guest
Hi I started on 3mg,about a little bit more than a week ago. The stiffness increased that much,I had to stop.Maybe one has to get through it,as some write. But my daily life was that much altered,I couldn't go on.Today is my first day without LDN,and stiffness comes down somewhat. So,concerning the thread's question:should I start again, and I probably do,it will be at a lower dosage-max 1.5mg. Good luck,Tom __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I am sensitive to meds so I started on 1.5 mg and gradually over a period of 2 weeks increased my dosage to 3mg. I had a slight headache and some dizzyness the 1 day of each dosage increase. I did not experience any insomnia(something I wanted to avoid.) I have been doing better since I started LDN (which I take for Fibro, but I also have MS). I now have no to an insignificant amount of pain. I have more energy. My energy level is not back to normal, but it is much better.
