Guest guest
I know Mike on this list is a "seasonal" eater. Maybe he'll chime in. Guest guest
why would cows naturally be dry during the winter? My cows generally freshen in oct/nov if not coerced to do otherwise. a good time for the calves. not too cold, no flies, and mama milk sees them through the winter when grass is not availale...when they are weaning age grass is up and plentiful, and as heat of summer gets dehyrating, the cows dry off end of summer to prepare for calving www.MajestyFarm.comNorth Garden, Virginia Re: Winter Milk quality I know Mike on this list is a "seasonal" eater. Guest guest
Here's a recent post on that topic: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RawDairy/message/2639 I was visiting one of my local farmers last week who hasn't been milking much lately, and I asked him if the cows were dry. He said " The calves are getting plenty of milk " . Mike SE Pennsylvania > > > HAs anyone thought about not haveing fresh milk during the winter? > > We look at things in the natural realm.
