One last word about generics... then I'll shut up ...

I was asked why generic medications are cheaper.

It's NOT because they're less effective, or contain inferior

ingredients.

It's because generic manufacturers don't have to pay for the

medication's initial development costs. The originator of a

medication must pay huge amounts for research, testing, and FDA

trials. Then, after the medication is approved by the FDA, they

must pay for packaging design, advertising and promotion. LOTS of

money. Millions and millions of dollars. So they set the price

high enough to help them recover these expenses.

The FDA understands this, and that's why the originators of a

medication are granted exclusive rights to manufacture the

medication for a certain amount of time -- usually somewhere between

8-18 years.

And then there's the money that the originator must pay for package

design, advertising, and promotion.

The generics manufacturers don't have to do spend all this money.

It's already been done for them.

Generics are also cheaper because once the patent has elapsed and

the generic is approved, increased competition keeps prices down.

I really will shut up now...

Don't shut up b/c we all learn from this. I use to think the same

way that generics were equivalent until I took generic naltrexone

and got BAD results. I even buy generic OTC meds b/c cheaper and

I'm not rich but now I wonder and will try namebrand OTC and see if

different results. And, everyone's body is different also with how

they utilize meds once entered in the body. There is no way we can

all be the same and react the same to meds. I just do not want

anyone to go thru the symptom relief I went thru and feeling

sooooooooo good to hit a brick wall and start all over again. And

I'm not one of the worst here either. I can walk and work and

nobody can tell anything is wrong with me more than me. My family

did see me come alive and get motivated and go out and do things so

they could see I was better. What I'm saying is why risk it when

you do not have to and I even tried to think the generic wasn't the

problem but by week one could tell energy was going, week two felt

pain coming back and by week three, GOSH! I knew the generic wasn't

workig for me and got pissed about it esp. after the liquid LDN gave

me energy and life back in June to mess it all up on generic in

July/Aug.
