Guest guest
Hi, My 4.5 year old son has a 1:1 aide in preschool. The class also has access to a behaviorist every week. My son has been having increased non-compliance and tantrums the last couple of months. They finally took data on frequency and length of tantrum, but no data on antecedents, they didn't do a FBA - functional behavioral analysis. I told them I was concerned about his increased behaviors and they said they would rewrite his behavior plan. They are now giving him a PECS card that says " Problem " on one side, and on the other side it has 3 options - " listen - break, - use words " -- So when he starts tantruming, they say, you have a problem, let's turn it over and see what you can do. You can either Listen to the teacher, Take a break, or use your words " -- Sometimes use your words is just not a choice, so it's either Listen or Break. Shouldn't they do a FBA before changing his behavior plan? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks,
