Clear Horizons Academy is a new non-profit private school for

children with Autism Spectrum Disorders set to open this fall in

Orem, Utah.

We are currently looking to hire One Autism Teacher/Specialist, One

Teacher/Specialists's Assistant, and 3-5 Teacher's Aides. Below are

Job Description and/or Qualifications for 1) Autism Specialist/Lead

Teacher, and 2) Autism Teacher's Assistant

1) Autism Specialist/Lead Teacher:

Be the lead teacher for 10-12 children on the Autism Spectrum

ranging in ages from 4-7. Person will supervise other adults in the

classroom which shall consist of one or two assistant teachers

and/or two or three aides. Position will be full time with

competitive salary and benefits.

2) Autism Teacher's Assistant:

Be an assistant to the Lead Teacher, available to teach the class as

a second teacher or to take the lead teacher's place as needed.

The teaching will be held in a newly created school for children

with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Organizational skills are needed as

well as teaching skills. This person will also interact with parents

of the students. Preferred, experience with the DIR Model created

by Stanley Greenspan and/or other Relationship-based therapies.

Applicant teachers for both positions must:

a) Hold baccalaureate or higher degrees;

B) Have at least three years of teaching experience (lead

teacher/specialist only; assistant at least one year) in public or

private schools; preferably in Special Education, or

c) Have special skills, knowledge, or expertise that qualifies them

to provide instruction in the subject taught and to the students

taught (Autism Spectrum Disorders).

Job Description and/or Qualifications for Autism Teacher's Aides:

Be a teacher's aide assisting other teaching professionals working

with 10-12 children on the Autism Spectrum ranging in ages from 4-7,

able to work with a child one-on-one or 2-3 children at a time with

independence. Positions available both part time and full time.

Person will be an aide to degreed teachers in the classroom with a

lead teacher, one other assistant autism teacher and one or two

other autism teacher's aides. The position will be in a newly

created school for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Organizational skills are needed as well as teaching skills. This

person will also interact with parents of the students.

A college degree is not required (required is a high school degree

at minimum). Qualifications of a success candidate include a

sincere desire to assist in the learning development process of

children with special education needs. Preferred but not required, 1-

3 years experience as a teacher's aide (particularly in teaching

children with developmental challenges). The love of children and

the desire to see them overcome their learning and development

challenges is very important.
