Guest guest
Hello all, My son (PDD-NOS) is included, with his ABA tutor, a little more than half the time in a regular first grade classroom. We are trying to figure out how to approach our goal of getting him to follow group directions more often. He will often do things like stand up, get in line, etc. at the same time as his peers. He has more difficulty with following academic directions that are given in a group format. The two major obstacles are attention and language. His language comprehension is a year or two behind that of his NT peers. Specifically, he has trouble when sentences are more gramatically complex. His attention working one to one is far better than it is in groups, but in general he gets " internally distracted " a LOT. Do you all have any suggestions about a logical, systematic approach to increasing the amount of time he attends to and follows group directions? Thanks for your help!
