Guest guest
I don't know. What kind of brain do you want to have? A therapist brain or artist brain will likely have higher percents of slow-wave frequencies than a psychologist or an accountant. A meditator will likely have higher percentages of middle frequencies. How old a brain are we talking about? The younger the brain, the higher percent of slow activity we'd expect to see. I use the theta/beta and alpha/theta ratios and the percents of beta and high-beta Eyes Closed (14% and 10%) as sort of guidelines to help me describe the brain, but I'm really not into " norming " , so I don't really look at the percents from that point of view. If the client has and wants to change issues relating to fast or slow or middle frequencies, then it's likely we ought to look at training those. Guest guest
Let me try the question another way. Overall percent would I guess give an indication of energy or activity distribution acroos slow mid fast. Larger percentages indicate whether the brain is too fast too slow and would suuggest apprpriate inhibits. It's ended up being a staement rather than a question. Guest guest
So what might one expect to see in the frequencies of a person who is dealing with chronic fatigue? a tired, old brain? Guest guest
Sue, Often chronic fatigue, chronic pain and fibromyalgia are very wound-up Tone issues. There is a major sub-cortical drive related to long periods of unremitting stress, but the brain responds to it by wrapping itself in cotton (alpha) to anesthetize. The client doesn't " feel " the emotional material, but it often becomes somaticized, and physical symptoms become major issues. This kind of alpha also is often low in frequency and blocks poorly with eyes open.
