Guest guest
I used the Edmark software with my grandson. I think it is good, but it is expensive. Pat K

Guest guest
Hi Everyone!! My daughter's school would like to start teaching her reading next year in first grade. Hayley is non verbal, but has 200+ signs paired with vocal approximations. She has recently become entranced by letters. When her teacher asks her to write a letter she not only writes the letter but also draws a picture of a hand signing that letter. Both of her siblings are hyperlexic, therefore we all suspect that reading could be a strength for her if we can find the best way to teach it. Hayley's teacher tried using Edmark (the paper version) with her, but did not feel that it was appropriate for Hayley's needs. The school is willing to purchase a new reading program but we don't know what would be best. What reading programs have you all used with success? Also, please describe how the lessons are presented, so I can get an idea if the program would be appropriate for my daughter. Thanks for any help/advice you can give me. I told the school I would bring options to our IEP meeting on Friday. -Kim Mom to Cady 10, Hayley 8, Corey 6 (all on the spectrum)
