How to “capture†a child’s motivation in order to teach spontaneous speech 7. That the use of augmentative communication can increase the likelihood that a non-vocal learner will learn functional and spontaneous speech 8. Criteria for choosing augmentative communication 9. Advantages and disadvantages of a topography based communication system(sign) vs. a selection based communication system (PECS) 10. How to teach sign (ASL) to children with special needs 11.
