Guest guest
Dr. man, The OANP has been working on this situation this week. Farr is specifically handling the PR and media piece of this. I would contact her. I have attached her email for you. Thanks, Leah Hollon, MPH NCNM/OANP Rep. --- alicia peterman wrote: --------------------------------- Did anyone see today's Willamette Week? (Portland publication for those of you out of town) Our colleague Don McBride is featured-- " killing a patient " via chelation therapy according to the story back in 2003. According to the article, he diagnosed high level of heavy metals (see article-pg 7) and began chelation therapy. Subsequently, she died. A lawsuit insued, settlement was sought and aworded. Obviously tragic, I feel deeply for him and the family. However, despite the consequences, this is significantly BAD press for those of us who do not do invasive practices such as chelation. I am not suggesting that our colleague did not assess the situation correctly, but it is a wake up call and reinforces our efforts for doing 'minimal' (non-invasive) medicine. " First do no harm " ! I feel a need to do some professional PR clean up. We do have such a vibrant community of alternative medicine among a strong community of skepticism. Especially in Portland where ND's are a dime a dozen, we cannot afford such bad press. Any thoughts? Same concerns? man, ND North Portland Wellness Center 4922 N.
