GOOD SCHOOL SYSTEM(KID FRIENDLY) FOR AUTISTIC KIDS-ONE WHICH HAS

ABA/VB KIND OF TRAINING IN THEIR SPECIAL ED CLASSES

IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS ABOUT A GREAT PRIVATE SCHOOL FOR AUTISM

CAN YOU ALL PLEASE GUIDE US TO AS WHICH STATES ARE MORE WILLING TO

Parent-to-Parent, I would just like to say that if you are moving because of

a work transfer or better job opportunity I can understand you're desire to

leave Savannah. If you are looking to relocate because you believe there is

a state out there, which offers an autism Nirvana, it does not exist.

Because of my husband's job, we have lived in 10 different states, so I've

had my share of yo-yo relationships with teachers, administrators, and

school districts.

What I've learned is that for change to begin it has to start with one

family. If we all pack up and move to the one school district that is trying

to do the right thing what happens to that district? We end up punishing the

very people who are working to make things better. I live in southwest GA,

so I believe I understand much of the frustration you are going through.

Currently, my district does pay for my ABA/VB services provided by SCEAP of

S.C. That didn't happen overnight, it took time, but change can happen. I

know that recently, Dr. Carbone did a presentation in Savannah, so the area

must have some interest in hearing this message.
