Off Topic...Insulin level question...

Just a quick question...I have conflicting info and

would like to get a consensus.

When checking a " fasting insulin " do you/we use the

FREE insulin level

or

TOTAL insulin level

for purposes of " for a fasting insulin level over 12,

treat with Glucophage/metformin for PCOS "

By the same token... Which insulin level do you/we use

in calculating the glucose/insulin ratio??
