Guest guest
I live in FL and took my 6 yr old to Vanderbilt at 3, he was diagnosed with Mixed Receptive and Expressive Language Disorder by Dr. Camarata. A pediatric Neurologist in Nashville diagnosed him with PDD/NOS regardless, I am looking for a school system that practices " INCLUSION " . My son now goes to a private catholic school with typical children where we employ an ABA tech for four hours at school with him and suppliment one day a week of ST, all out of pocket. My son does not need an aide (a baby sitter, high school grad getting paid $8/hr) he needs someone qualified like we have now to be with him during a good portion of the day....................we are going broke!!!!! My son will probably need alot of support for years to come, someone metioned fairfax county because they support and might pay for someone qualified in ABA to be with him in the classroom. INCLUSION is the utmost important factor to us. After all in our son's case a " SEPARATE BUT EQUAL " learning environment is not acceptable. He deserves both comminication and social skills (from his typical peers) and acedemic progress (through additional help in the classroom environemnt with someone qualified help) Still pinning my hopes on trying to get what my child needs and deserves. Thanks for listening.
