Marna..we have an OB who does infertility..meds, insemination and

invitro....we never know how the patient concieved....the only thing on our OB

prenatals from the office is hx of infertility. The only time I knew about an

invitro was when the parents told me....nobody has told me about an

insemination. The Hollistor prenatal records start with the first prenatal

visit! Lori in Orlando

Dear Marna,

Usually we do know if the patient has been an infertility patient. It is

written on the prenatals. Most of us know that sometimes these patients " are

a little more anxious " than most. (I wonder why? :D)

Another thing to consider is the difficult time you will have being a

" healthcare provider " during your pregnancy. Don't get me wrong, I am very

pro-education, but I remember my own experiences. My first son was born

without benefit of childbirth classes and I hadn't started nursing school yet.

My second son was born after I became an LVN. Pardon my French but with my

second son, I had the " pregnancy from hell. " Every little twitch and pain

automatically went to my imagination. I just " knew " the whole time something

was going wrong. I'm happy to say he turned out to be a healthy 9# infant.

And 15 years later I think my BP has returned to normal. :)

Good Luck and don't be afraid to ask questions. There is a wealth of

information and more importantly support in this group.

I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop. So far I've been blessed with

wonderful teenagers. The only problem is the moodiness and mood swings. I

thank God daily.

Marna asked:

.. Does the staff know that you went through the donor egg

process, like is it on your chart somewhere, or do you just enter the

hospital and have the baby just like any other husband and wife having a

baby.

Hi, Marna!

I have worked in Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility and in addition, my

best friend is going through the donor egg route for the same reasons you

are. As a matter of fact, I'm giving her the shots she has to regulate her

cycle.

As for whether anyone knows if there is a donor egg--no one knows anything

you don't tell them. Usually, once you get pregnant, you are followed by the

Infertility doctor until 12 weeks gestation, then you go to your own

obstetrician/midwife. It's not medically necessary to tell them if you don't

choose to. And you could tell them, but ask for it not to be with any

records which may be sent to your delivering facility.

Good luck!

Awesome!! Thank you:)

I just read the article where a Caucasian couple gave birth to IVF boys, one

black and one white.

I am sure there is going to be hell to pay over this one.
