Congratulations folks,

The NY thimerosal bill has passed the State Senate and Assembly! Those

thousands of phone calls, emails, faxes and letters paid off. And it

wouldn't have happend without the ongoing involvement of thousands of people

from across the state.

But the job isn't done yet, We need to get Governor Pataki to sign the bill.

So at this point you folks know the drill, we need to call, write, phone and

fax the Governor and tell him in a polite and respectful way why he should

sign the bill. It isn't clear when the bill will land on his desk. I will

let you know when I find out. But it could happen soon. Once he gets the

bill he has ten days to sign it. So start contacting him now!

You guys are great. Think about what else we can do together to help our

kids.

One important thing, please contact Assemblymember Harvey Weisenberg and

Senator Dean Skelos and thank them for the hard work they and their

dedicated staffs put in to make this happen. They are good friends of our

community and we will be working with them in the future. It is easy to

become cynical about government and politics but sometimes democracy

actually seems to work.
