WHAT: Mission Statement- To raise awareness and allow parents of

of treating Autism and related disorders free from prejudice, and

pressure, and to also allow for the free exchange of information and

the raising of funds in order to support groups seeking to help

parents of Autistic children and their families attain their goals.

We are here as a group to support the autistic family. No one but

the autistic person really knows how autism affects their world, but

it is not only them that must learn to adapt in society. The family

as a whole must learn, and adapt accordingly. As must teachers and

support people. Autism makes one deal with enough without being

shunned by ones own family, and support people. We are here to

foster a better understanding of the social needs of autistic

people, and a network of families that support each other. Making

our community a better place.

Rules for Families with Autism Day

This day is an opportunity for autistic people and those with

related developmental differences, our friends, and supporters to

come together, discover and explore autistic connections, and

develop advocacy skills, all in an autistic-friendly environment. A

chance for us to come together as a community and support each

other, and network, and not to feel self conscious, or bombarded by

sensory input.

There are a few rules however…

1) No Smoking anywhere on the premises. Anyone caught smoking with

be immediately removed.

2) Please keep personal fragrances to a minimum. This can aggravate

those with sensory issues.

3) Respect others for the choice to be left alone, if preferred.

There is a color-coded system for who wishes to have social

interaction, and what type.

4) We are here to focus on the positive aspects of autism, and ways

to manage in society, not to make people with autism less autistic.

5) Feel free to dance, flap ones arms, rock back and forth, or any

other activity that makes you more comfortable. You will not be

judged here.

6) There are to be no derogatory remarks made, no pressure to

interact if one does not want to and no pointing, making fun of, or

any other activity that would offend another person, autistic or

not. Please understand that people may not be here for the social

aspect, and are here to gather information. This is a safe haven for

families and people with autism. Check your negativity at the door.

7) Have fun! Eat, Drink and be Merry.

Color Code System

Please respect the wishes of others attending this event. If you

fail to do so repeatedly, you will be asked to reread the rules.

White name tag- All forms of social interaction- touching,

approaching with questions, and responding to most forms of positive

social interaction.

Red Name Tag- Verbal interaction is ok, and welcomed. I DO NOT WANT

TO BE TOUCHED.

Yellow Name Tag- I do not want to be touched or approached. I will

however respond to people I already am familiar with, and if I

approach you, I will set the boundaries for our conversation.
