Guest guest
I haven't been here in forever, but I've started to look ahead to summer and want to put together some sort of informal program for my son. He's recently turned 7 and doing well in a private kindergarten (held one year) without any special assistance. Last summer we did VBA and it helped with beginning question asking etc. He's still not what I would call completely conversational. He can tell me a few things about his day (what he had for lunch, what letter they talked about, etc) but we need to get to the next level. We're still working on How and Why which is starting to get better. I also want to incorporate social stories, proper school behavior (playing school perhaps?),RDI, critical thinking skills and a preview of any abstract concepts which may be introduced in first grade. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting that conversation going? We've tried NET with videos but he isn't a video watcher and detested doing that! I'm hoping to make things less informal and more fun this year. Also, does anyone have any recommendations for CD-ROMS that incorporate any of the things that I want to work on? Does anyone have any experience with Rosetta Stone? Thanks, Vicki
