My question is this setup > practical will transistors hold up? should I insert a > spark plug? or just stick to the blue plasma glow Hi Andre.....Sounds like you touched on a lot of the variables all in a hurry. I've put together two " poorer than poor man's " (Variations on Jimmie Holmans " Poor Man's " specs)with some 'variables'because of using old stuff. Oh, both work (the doggie poos dead parasites) but sometimes the tube runs orangey, sometimes a rich purple. (I think the " plasma " centrifuges itself and I have maybe 18% neon with the Argon, sometimes one coils to the outside, sometimes the other)). The two units are widely different in a lot of ways. Tho I have ruined some transistors, I found I could run up to three used auto coils at one time. The 2n6059 is good to 150 watts and 200c (about 400F) so is pretty tough if not 'shorted. To ALL..... I have to recommend hiding a lot of necessary critical parts other places than at your lab or home.....Me too. (Tho I'm in Canada, ours is a 'copycat' government.) Have a SUPER New Year.
