Guest guest
I'm liking kefir here in Texas. I haven't really used it all that much because I was using more fresh milk, yogurt and cheese. Not to mention that I've gotten into coconut oil and kombucha. Yikes! What a learning curve here! If you would have told me this 5 years ago, I'd have told you you were nuts! :-D A friend of mine teased me and said that soon I'd be milling my own grain and wearing earth shoes. Funny thing is, I already HAVE earth shoes (have had them for years) and I've already found a lady who is going to teach me all about milling. What a hoot! I'm finding that kefir is VERY easy! At first I didn't use a whole lot of milk over the grains and let my grains multiply more. I just set it on the back corner of my stovetop (built in range) where it is warmish. I didn't have a bit of trouble. Now I'm going good. Thanks for all the great help on this site! I appreciate each and every one of you! Guest guest
There is really only one kind of authentic kefir grain. The rest, the commercial, store bought varieties are from a lab-created culture, a powder, that tries to mimic the bacteria in the real kefir grains. People (myself included) share real kefir grains all the time for free.... jms0715 wrote: Hi ; Wow, thanks for the info. I feel so inspired now!! One more question....some of the things I have been reading seem to say that the type of Kefir grains you use makes a big difference in the quality of your kefir. Do you feel this is the case? I love hearing about all the raw food people are eating. I'm now eating raw dairy, eggs, lots of veggies and am slowly working up to the fermented dairy and veggies. The dairy is thus far amazing. Thanks much. Hope you are well. Sincerely; Jill PLEASE BE KIND AND TRIM YOUR POSTS WHEN REPLYING! Check out these links! Midvalleyvu Farms http://www.midvalleyvu.com The Weston A. Guest guest
, I would love to have some of your kefir grains. What do I need to do to get them? Will DFACS be making a home visit to be sure that I will be a good parent? LOL Amy Waters Re: Re: Kefir There is really only one kind of authentic kefir grain.
