But strawberries are supposed to be carbs, not vegetables or free

foods.. actually, that goes for all fruits. If you look in the

approved foods list, strawberries are listed under the carbohydrates

section, along with quite a few other fruits.

I called BFL support on Friday night, while I was planning my week,

and the representative that I spoke to said that any fruit was okay

as a carb, except bananas, which a BFL-er should stay away from. I

can't remember why, though.

How long have you been in your current Challenge?

-Blacker Leather Rain,

I know that strawberries are carbs and a fruit as well, what did know

how much carbs. I think I have been eating twice as many as I should.

Since I am only suppose to have 23 g of carbs at eatch meal. Anyways

if funny the BFL support line would say to avoid bananas b/c they are

on the authorize list in the book. I have had bananas before I don't

have a lot but I have had them maybe once a week. I think they might

of said to stay away from them because they have alot of natural

surgar in them but I am not really sure. To answere your questions I

relatively new the the BFL Challange. I am in my first challange,

week 4, day 2. Nice chattin with you. Good luck!!!!!!!

I would love to know the reason about bananas if anyone knows. I am

thinking high carb and high in calories? But could be wrong.

Cristi,

I think it was the calorie issue that made her say that. I do notice

that the book does encourage both fruits and veggies that are high in

water content -- perhaps for the same reason?

Yep, bananas are higher in calories (100-140 cal depending on size)

and natural sugars, plus have almost zero fiber, but once in a while

is fine. I love 'em myself, and have a small one once a week. :)

Onions you don't have to worry about because they're very

thermogenic. It *is* easy to get nickle-and-dimed to death by hidden

carbs, but you could off-set that by having one or two meals a day

where you go majorly protein-heavy. You need protein far more than

you need carbs.

Does it actually matter how much fibre a given carb food has? After

all, you're not relying on *carb foods* for fibre, correct? You rely

on veggies for those. If it's all-carb, then you just need to

counter it with higher protein, right?

I wasn't actually talking about bananas-as-carbs, rather bananas-as-

fruit. I was merely referring to the higher natural sugar content,

which, as you may already know, is more slowly absorbed into the body

when accompanied by fibre. Most fruits contain fibre, bananas do

not. I rely on vegetables *and* fruits for fibre, except when I

slack, then I use a fibre supplement (as I noted in the " fiber "

thread). I hope this clarifies my previous post. :)
