Serdikoff, Ph.D., B.C.B.A. Madison University Department of Psychology, MSC 7401 onburg, VA 22807 SERDIKSL@... -- 540.568.7089 Greetings, I am pleased to invite you to attend the 1st conference of the recently formed Virginia Association for Behavior Analysis (VABA), a Chapter of the Association for Behavior Analysis: International. Our first meeting will be held in the heart of Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, in the ballroom of the Center on the campus of Madison University, onburg VA on Saturday March 5, 2005. We will begin with registration from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. during which you may pick up your nametag or register on-site. Invited presentations will take place throughout the day, with a mid-day break for lunch. Our conference will end with a business meeting for the membership followed by a Poster Session and Social from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. A list of the invited speakers and titles for their presentations will be posted on the _VABA_ (http://www.v-aba.org/) web site at, _http://www.v-aba.org_ (http://www.v-aba.org/) very soon, so keep checking. I ask that you please consider submitting a poster proposal. We especially encourage submissions from students. Any topic relevant to behavior analysis is appropriate; the content of posters may be empirical, theoretical, or conceptual. In addition, posters highlighting programs in Behavior Analysis are welcome. The deadline for poster submissions is Friday, February 18, 2005. Poster proposals should be submitted on-line by clicking the _ONLINE POSTER SUBMISSION_ (http://www.v-aba.org/) link on the home page of the _VABA_ (http://www.v-aba.org/) web site. The Center is part of the_ University Center_ (http://www.jmu.edu/ucenter) located in the _Hillside Area_ (http://www.jmu.edu/map/index.shtml) of the _ Madison University_ (http://www.jmu.edu/) campus. Our conference will be held in _PC Ballroom_ (http://www.jmu.edu/ucenter/pcballroom.shtml) on the top floor of the Center. Directions for getting to JMU are available from the _Visitor’s Section_ (http://www.jmu.edu/admissions/visit/directions.shtml) of the JMU web site. As this is our first meeting, I’m not sure whether individuals would be interested in staying in onburg over night - either Friday night before the conference, Saturday night after the conference, or both. If there is interest, I would be happy to negotiate a reduced room rate for our group at a local hotel, but I will need to know approximately how many rooms we will use to do so. If you think you might attend the conference and you would be interested in a hotel room, please send me an email message as soon as possible (_serdiksl@..._ (mailto:serdiksl@...) ) and let me know whether you would be interested in a room for Friday night before the conference, Saturday night after the conference, or both. Once I get a sense of the number of rooms we will need I’ll contact everyone with information about hotel accommodations. There are four categories of membership in VABA: Full Member, Associate Member, Student Member, and Affiliate Member, each described on the MEMBERSHIP page of the _VABA_ (http://www.v-aba.org/) web site. There is one fee for VABA membership and conference registration. To become a member and attend the conference complete and submit the VABA 2005 membership and conference registration form included with this letter (also available on the membership page of the _VABA_ (http://www.v-aba.org/) web site). Please pass on this announcement to anyone that you think may be interested in joining VABA or attending the conference. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing you in here in onburg. Sincerely, Sherry L. Serdikoff , Ph.D., B.C.B.A. President, VABA
