Guest guest
You might want to try teaching this in the natural environment instead of with cards at a table. I'd start by picking one color (maybe his favorite one) and go find all of the color in the natural setting. Kenny's favorite color is green, so we can go outside and look at bushes, trees, grass, leaves etc. Then we can find all the things that are green inside. Use errorless teaching procedures. " Look at the green grass. What color is the grass? Green. What color is the grass? " At this point he should say green. Use LOTS of strong reinforcement. I remember when we were struggling with the letters. It happened to be around the time I'd made his special chocolate birthday cake. Every time we did something with letters, (he loved to play the Boggle game) we would give him a bite of his cake. We actually had him manding for the letters he needed to complete the word. To mand for colors, I might put a piece of cake on a green plate, and something that he DISliked on another plate, and ask him which color plate he wanted. (Usually you can find colored plates and cups in sets of play dishes, or even party stores.) s (Cary, NC) persistentC@... Guest guest
I taught colors with colored Easter eggs and M & M's so this is perfect timing. I had the child sort the M & M's (you can get bulk ones in every color at Walmart) then closed them and had her receptively ID the color by pointing then had her expressively ID the color. Then she got to eat the M & M. GOOD LUCK
