Guest guest
Hello: May be you should try with something more interesting for your son, eg. lay Legos in the table and ask him to take those (eg) in red. Prompts in this tasks are quantity of blocks, colours, a matching to sample at the begining. In this task you can train receptive, expresive and he can build a tower as reinforcement. I had once dificulties with letters. The child I was working with couldn't memorice letters. We started with vowels in a sort of soup pf letters. He had to find in a matching to sample task the target letter (eg A). later, he had to find 3 As . In the meantime, I asked him which letter he was looking for, and so. Had been more difficult than colours, but he can read, put and write the 5 vowels and P. na Message: 2 Date: Mon, 14 Feb 2005 15:17:44 -0000 From: " sharmisri " <sharmisri@...> Subject: VENTING Need Help with teaching colours and letters -sorry long Hello everybody I am a member of this group for a verylong time now,but this is the first time i am posting here. A lttle background-We used to live in US until recently and have now moved to India due to the expiration of visa My son used to get 20hrs of ABA until then After our big move, since there is no ABA funda here in India i am continuing with the programme. The 2 drills that i am stuck with a looooooooong time are the colours and letters i followed the 7 step method ie MT in isolation Mt with a distractor MT 2 in isoltion MT#2 with ditractor MI#1 WITH 2 MT#2 WITH 1 AND finally RR of 1 & 2 All goes well until the 6th step but when it comes to RR he is back to square 1 .He makes this pattern of picking up the cards from the same side Some times even the prompts does not work I have tried by changing the prompting method [proximity, visual.HOH] and none works He always take it from the same side [and for him the prefferd side changes from time to time one week it would be the left the next week it would be the right. The same goes with letters[but some times i feel letters are better than colours]He is on matching lower to upper with the letters Pls give me suggestion on how to take it forward .I am wondering why he is having this much trouble with this drill alone [other drills he is good though he makes mistakes rarely]I tried both NNP and erorer less training method Help me here G's mom ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ List moderators: Jenn - ABAqueen1@...
