Guest guest
Dear List Members, Please keep in mind that this is a Natural Family Planning list, and although many have the same feelings on other topics, such as Pro-Life issues, not all share the same values. Since this is an NFP list, let us restrict our discussion to that topic or issues surrounding that topic. My thanks, Suzanne Chisum List Moderator

Guest guest
Dear Walter and Suzanne, Your message raises some interesting questions. Are not abortion and abortifacients issues that surround the topic of NFP? Is "birth control" in general an issue relevant to the topic of NFP? Is sexual morality such an issue? How many members of the list and how many people who teach NFP, whether as volunteer professionals or as paid professionals, engage in this teaching effort primarily for moral considerations? How many of us overtly teach that it is immoral to use unnatural forms of birth control? If we would teach that Bill and behavior was an acceptable way to deal with sexual tension during the fertile time, would that be NFP? Obviously, abortion is a way in which some people practice birth control as contrasted with conception control. Can we separate the pro-life message from the NFP message? I suspect that many who are anti-abortion do in fact separate the chastity issues from the abortion issue, but I submit that those who are teaching NFP because of moral considerations cannot avoid the abortion issue. Both surgical abortion and chemical abortion are part of the secular "birth control" package. In today's culture, we cannot take it for granted that everyone seeking NFP instruction already believes what the Catholic Church teaches about abortion and abortifacients. This is a long-winded way of saying that when politicians clearly state their views on matters of life or death morality, it is a matter of morality, not a matter of "politics," to challenge that view whatever the venue. It seems to me that to avoid such life and death moral issues because of a fear of political incorrectness within a certain venue would be to pllay "politics." Thank you for all that you do to keep the List up and going. -- Kippley OT: Politics Dear List Members, Please keep in mind that this is a Natural Family Planning list, and although many have the same feelings on other topics, such as Pro-Life issues, not all share the same values. Guest guest
My apologies. I didn't read this email until I sent the previous one. I'll keep such discussions off-list from now on. I would submit, however, as is often promoted by such wonderful organizations as One More Soul and others, that contraception is quite possibly the root of MANY of the problems plaguing our nation and world today - not the least of which is abortion. Still, I understand the need to limit our discussion to issues directly related to NFP.
