There is some confusing information in your memo. That steel is normally untreated as it is intended to oxidize to a stable coating that is supposed to "look neat" with its shadings (like weathered cedar).

I am sure that it can be coated but that was not the purpose for which it was developed.

I am late on two projects so I did not follow your links as of yet.

shipping containers for mold and chemically sensitive?

I am wondering if anyone here knows much about this option and if itis a viable one for those of us that are sensitized to mold andchemicals and looking for safe alternative housing.Specific questions I have is about cor-ton steel of which themanufacture says these types of containers are made:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weathering_steelFrom what I gather it is an alloy so it should not out gas any chemicals at all? Also one dealer said they are painted with epoxy paint at manufacture.Does anyone know anything about this finish and how safe it is, beingthere are probably many different types of epoxy finishes this mightbe a difficult question to answer.http://www.allstatecontainer.com/faq.php#a9thanks
