Community College will be offering the following Professional workshop

What is a Verbal Behavior Program &

How do you create one using the ABLLS?

March 18 & 19, 2005 9:00-3:30 pm

Presented by Katrina Mellott BCaBA & Kim Stunkard BCaBA

This 2 day workshop is designed for educators, instructional assistants, TSS's,

ABA-VB therapists, related services professionals, behavior analysts, parents,

and anyone else who works with a student with autism or other developmental

disability interested in setting up a ABA/VB program and programming from the

ABLLS. The intent of this workshop is to facilitate staff development and

sustained professional growth so that the necessary supports for personnel may

exist and FAPE can be ensured for all learners. This workshop is based upon the

principles of applied behavioral analysis and B.F. Skinner's 1957 publication of

Verbal Behavior. It will focus on applying the science of Applied Behavior

Analysis in conjunction with Verbal Behavior to children with autism and other

developmental disabilities through:

-An account of. the history of ABA/ VB

- Overview of the verbal operants

- Necessary teaching repertories

- Reinforcement and pairing with reinforcement

- Fading in demands

- The BLAF/ the ABLLS (what it is, how to interpret)

-Functional behavioral assessments and behavior intervention plans

-Establishing instructional control through the manipulation of antecedents and

consequences (teaching procedures and behavior protocols)

-Natural environment training and intensive teaching

This workshop will illustrate useful strategies and procedures as well as

effective teaching techniques with live footage and hands-on examples.

Cost: $165.00 USD per person
