I sometimes feel like I burned 1000 calories LOL!

Yeah, and I would think it would have to with your sex, weight, size, and

fitness level too...but the article does say it is still very much

worthwhile-and we know plenty of people here on the list can attest to that!

~Kat, who has to get her lazy butt back into studying Neurology...BLAH!

ps..., maybe once I've done Advanced for a month or so, we should meet up

for a studio workout-sometime in the summer? That would be fun! Anyone else

on the list from Southern California?

Most people are told to walk for their exercise so now are folks to be told

not to walk but run instead if the only thing that matters is how many

calories are burnt per hour? Would think enjoying a low impact exercise is a

better choice for overweight or older folks.

I don't think folks are into Tae-Bo just cuz it burns calories but cuz it is

fun and tones and energizes and increases flexibility and relieves backpain,

depression, stress

etc etc etc

I don't think the average Tae-Bo user weighs just 135 pounds

Also, the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn

For this sort of study to be effective, they need to take folks who do Tae-Bo

at full intensity cuz most other cardiokickboxing videos are walks in the

park compared to TB. Let's face it, there are alot of variables like the pace

of the work-out, how much walking-out is done, how many reps, form, etc

Barb

who would rather do an hour of TB than 10 minutes of running and the key to

exercising is doing it and to do it, you must enjoy it

That's great Sandy!

I used to teach Hi-Impact aerobics.

It was definitely not like Taebo!!!

Awesome words Barb!

Taebo for me is mentally stimulating as well as physical.

I get emotional sometimes during the tapes.

Just a feeling of power and strength I guess!!

To know I accomplished something so challenging.

Today in my WW meeting, our leader talked about exercise points. Briefly,

we get extra points (extra food!) for exercise. No extra points for the

first 20 minutes of exercise, and 2 extra points for each additional 20

minutes.

Since I had heard all of this before, stupid me left the class early. My

co-worker came down after the class was over and told me that the leader

gave us an *additional* point for each extra 20 minutes of exercise if

we're doing TaeBo because it burns more calories than regular aerobics.

While it may not burn 800 calories per hour (that *is* a lot when you think

about it), it obviously burns more than normal aerobics. Plus it does a

heckuva job of muscle toning if you really focus. And the more toned your

That's a great description of doing TaeBo

I sometimes *feel* like I'm so much *taller* while I'm working

out it's an amazing feeling, like my spirit is actually growing!

Does anyone else get things like that happen?

Hi, Nikki!

< I am having trouble figuring out if I am getting enough calories,

protein and carbs a day. . . . 1500 calories a day, 155 g carbs a day

and 180 g protein a day...is this right? >

Sounds fine, since protein is more important than carbs anyway. A

ratio of 50:30:20 would probably be better than the 40:40:20. As for

total calories to shoot for, use the calculator at

http://www.hussman.com/eas/bmrcalc.htm

< Also, I was wondering...is there something wrong with taking too

much protein powder a day? >

I use protein powder quite a bit myself in a strategic way: a protein-

and-oil shake immediately after weight-training, and sometimes

before, as well (moderate calories). And if I happen to be in a

hurry or can't cart around whole foods if I'm out of the house

(although even that's not too hard if you have a good supply of small

containers on hand).

< I usually have a shake in the morning, and then for meal 2 I have

fat free yogurt with a scoop of protein powder mixed in..then for

meal 4 another shake then for meal six I make the pudding with the

protein powder...Then for meals 3 and 5 I use whole foods and

veggies....do you think this is excessive use of the powder? >

Probably not.

Best wishes,

Andy
