Non-homogenized? That's better than nothing, that's for sure! What's the address, is it relatively close to I-94? Do you know if Crystal Ball Farms have pasture-fed cows? (When I think "pasture fed" I picture the Laughing Cow icon, a appealing cow with horns and a flower sticking out of its' mouth!)

Thanks for the tip!

returnable milk bottles

Menomonie Market, Menomonie Wisconsin has been selling milk from Crystal Ball Farms. I finally looked at the words "cream line" and decided the cream must rise to the top. Yes, it does! Their milk is not homogenized. It is, however, pasteurized. They offer skim, lo-fat, whole, and chocolate. I bought one gallon of whole milk. The taste was neither bad nor good. But I like the fact that they use the system of glass bottles that you return for $1.50 refund. This means fewer containers. Even though it's easy to bring jugs to the recycling bin, people still don't necessarily do it. I think this development is half good half bad.--LAURA.--To learn more about Raw Dairy, visit our home pages at http://www.midvalleyvu.com

Sara,

Crystal Ball Farm's website is www.crystalballfarms.com. I could

only get the home page. Menomonie Market is easy to find in town

(Main, Broadway and 4th Street triangle, by a big globe) and it's

close to I-94.

When I speak of both types of milk, I realize " pasture "

and " pasteurized " sound nearly identical. We should say heat-treated

milk or cooked milk or denatured milk. Well, the establishment

always gets to set the terminology.

The whole food groceries in Menomonie and River Falls purchase milk

from a place called Father's Farm.

It's organic...pasteurized...homogenized.

PRICE: The farm is close enough that the milk is actually cheaper

than milk from a conventional grocery.

Close, but not raw.

LAURA.
