Guest guest
Is she nursing, or have her cycles returned? If they’ve returned, are they normal? OT: Natural Remedies for Post-Partum Depression? I have a client who is experiencing prolonged depression after the birth of her third child, who is almost 3 months old. (She also had a lengthy period of depression after her first baby -- about 8 months until she " felt like herself again. " ) She reports daily crying episodes and a general feeling of the blues. She is reluctant to see her doctor as she does not wish to take prescription medication. She has enquired about natural or herbal remedies that may alleviate her depression and be safe for her nursing baby. Any suggestions? Thanks, Wodzinski
Guest guest
I've just researched non-perscription drug alternatives to treat depression, including post-partum. Fish oil, specifically the EPA portion of it, has been successful for many people. The recommended dosage is 1gram - 9 grams total of EPA and DHA combined with a preferable ratio of 2 to 1 EPA to DHA. Perfectly safe for pregnant as well as breastfeeding moms. Cindi It is not that we have so little time, but that we have wasted so much of it. Guest guest
Dr. Hilgers has had absolutely amazing success with natural progesterone injections for ppd. I have actually been through this with quite a few clients. She can call the Pope VI Institute, and the nurse will return her call and assess her and determine if she would be a suitable candidate for their therapy. And there is also a testimony tape from the conference held in Omaha this past Juy, from a patient who achieved immediate and miraculous relief with the progesterone treatment. All my clients have experience improvement, tho not all have been immediate----some were! Urge her to call them. This is very serious, and in my experience the person suffering from PPD needs an advocate to help them seek solutions----they are just too overwhelmed to do so themselves. Guest guest
YES. She must see a Psychiatrist!!! It is all to common tha post-partum depression and medicines work very well for it... You should reassure her that the prognosis is good, but it is non sense not to take advantage of efficacious remedies to get back quicker to her life and to a better care of her children and family. Guest guest
Dr. Hilger's has had great success treating women with post-partum depression with natural progesterone. Go to the website directory at www.popepaulvi.com and look for a Creighton Model Practitioner or Medical Consultant in her area. The treatment is very simple and mother's report an immediate difference. The newly released book from the Pope VI Institute, "Women Healed" is an excellent compilation of stories much like the woman you describe who have been healed using NaProTechnology. I highly recommend it! Liz Parrish, RN, FCP
Guest guest
Natural Progesterone. Check with a NFP physician. Dr. Hilgers has done much research with this and reports great success. Guest guest
I disagree. I had severe depression for a year after my daughter was born, and Dr. Hilgers progesterone shots worked instantly. No expensive or embarrassing psychiatry visits necessary! Guest guest
She is practicing ecological breastfeeding -- nursing on demand, sleeping with the baby, no bottles or pacifiers, the baby goes everywhere she goes. Her cycles have not returned; however, when she is cycling she experiences PMS and short luteal phases. Nonetheless, she has had three successful pregnancies with no hormonal supplementation or other treatment. No miscarriages. Given her cycle history, it sounds as if she may respond very favorably to progesterone therapy, as has been advised by a number of you. I'm sure she will be very encouraged by these suggestions. Thanks to all for the great and speedy responses, On Sun, 5 Dec 2004 17:38:05 -0600 " Guthmann" writes: Is she nursing, or have her cycles returned?
