Location: 3100 Research Blvd. Kettering, OH 45420-4022 Deadline to register is Jan. 7, 2005. Cost is $50 and includes a 1-year membership to DAFEAT. This workshop will focus on The key principles to understanding behavior (both adaptive and maladaptive); The motivational variables under which children acquire language. The teaching procedures necessary for success within a VB program, concentrating on: the use and purpose of errorless learning techniques, mixing and varying of instructional skills, providing a deliberate ratio of easy skills versus acquisition skills, shaping, chaining, prompting, and fading. Skinner's behavioral classification of language, known as the Verbal Operants. These include: mands (requests); tacts (labels); echoic (vocal imitation); motor imitation; RFFCs; receptive language; and intraverbals (answering questions, conversation). Ralston is a Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst and independent behavior analyst from Lexington, KY. In the past five years Ms. Ralston has worked with over 100 families with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities, as well as providing education to hundreds of parents and professionals interested in Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior methodologies in Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio.
