Guest guest
Here is a quote from the book " Losing The Moon " that, jumped out and grabbed me this week and I wanted to share it with my LWI fmaily. This book, " Losing The Moon " never ceases to amaze me. We purchased it in 11/98 and have listened to and read it regularly ever since and still I am getting jolts like this one as if it were the first time I ever heard this. the following dialogue is referring to an earlier discussion of an event that occurred in a Nazi concentration camp. Friend #2: But really, there is no me, there's no you; it's just all- --nothing. There is no anything, anyway. : Exactly. Friend #2: That's the dream. : But I honor you where ever you are. You are me. It's as though there was such an honoring here that it has to extend it. Because I can't make you go away. You don't exist for me, and you are still telling me you are hurt. So that's the putting the baby over there in the fire -- I feel nothing but connection. Your story of the baby and the fire does not move me. And your screams don't move me. But when you look at me and you say " help me " , then I will -- I will enter that place with you, that place where you live, that place that you hurt from. Because you ask, you can see my peace. And that " is the help " . You can see that I am not alarmed -- my baby went too -- I am your peace -- your ever present friend. So that's the joining. But to get the baby back is to give you less. It is to give you a Band-Aid and it serves nothing. It perpetuates. No true healing has occurred, only a higher density of fear. How do I know that this would give you less? What is, is the highest order. SD: Comments? Blessings, Steve D.

Guest guest
Hi Steve, thank you for this quote. I never really get that they say there is nothing. It seems that there is 'noticing'. So there is some consciousness, or awareness or whatever you would call it. Is this awareness 'nothing'? And what about anything that happens in this awareness? Is a thought 'nothing'? I don't get it. She also says: " I can't make you go away. " and " You don't exist for me " . How can these two statements be reconciled? Does she mean that there is no 'you', so that is the part that does not exist, while at the same time whatever there is, (falsely) interpreted as a 'you', which does not exist for her, cannot be made to go away? And what does she mean by: " So that's the putting the baby over there in the fire -- I feel nothing but connection " ? I seem to understand how 'fixing' Reality is giving a Band-Aid, though. Reality Rules. It's being breathed and being thought. Give up and trust that whatever makes you breathe and makes thoughts appear will also take care of all the other things that happen in life. And honor it. How could I ever begin to think that I know better? Love, Eva > Friend #2: But really, there is no me, there's no you; it's just all- > --nothing. Guest guest
Dear Eva, Of course, I can NOT tell you what the answers are to your questions. You would have to ask . Based on my experience in asking , that may be of little help as well. One way of understanding is how the Course In Miracles talks about the 2 Levels of awareness. One level which is the dream or illusion, where separate things appear to exist and the other Level where this separated world as we perceive it does not exist and everything is God, everything is Good. According to the Course In Miracles, your " noticing " is actually " dreaming " . Therefore what appears in the " noticing/dreaming " is actually irrelevant because it is not real. Now, I personally find that I do believe in this dream of bodies living in a physical world and I personally find that to try to deny that belief is not useful but only places me in a state of denial, understanding that, I am brought to the point of believing in what I am noticing/dreaming as real and at the same time, doing The Work on what part of the noticing/dreaming that I find stressful and gaining a better understanding of it and moving to a place where, although I remain in the state of notcing/dreaming, I become aware that it is simply a dream and not reality and therefore no harm was done. One day my wife asked " , when you look at a tree what do you see? " responded " I see what you see, sweetheart, except that I know it is not a really a tree. " For me " It is like when you see your hand and also know that it is your body -- part of the whole. " You asked: " And what does she mean by: " So that's the putting the baby over there in the fire -- I feel nothing but connection " ? My present understanding would be that in 's awareness there is no baby and there is no fire -- separate from -- she knows that she is the apparent baby and the apparent fire. What just came to my mind was " blah, blah, blah. Not good, not bad, simply more words.
