Plain Newsletter banner Dear supporter, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Dingell (D-MI) and Rep. Tim (R-PA) introduced the Protecting Medicaid Safety Net Act of 2008 (H.R. 5613). The bill proposes a one year moratorium on the regulations the Center for Medicaid Services has proposed in response to the cuts made in the President's fiscal year 2009 budget. Many people do not realize that Medicaid pays for many of the services students with special needs depend on while in school. Essential services like speech and language therapy, physical therapy and specialized transportation, to and from school, are at risk of being severely cut or eliminated. Passage of H.R. 5613 will allow students to continue to receive services while policymakers take the opportunity to discuss the best way to modify all Medicaid services under the limitations of the President's fiscal year 2009 budget. I ask you to take a few minutes of your time today to ask your representative in the House to support the passage of H.R. 5613 so policymakers can have the opportunity for robust debate on this critical issue. Please visit our <http://ncld. convio.net/ site/R?i= iHGzRg1iaQkrftJj X3OmMg..> Legislative Action Center to learn more about this important issue. Then send a message to your elected officials today! Thank you for your continued support on behalf of those with special needs and their families. Your voice always makes a difference! Sincerely, Kaloi Director of Public Policy National Center for Learning Disabilities Unsubscribe <http://ncld. convio.net/ site/CO?i= h4OdgCun9ojX3hog gISrDT_hkn5a2cKu & cid=1041> from receiving email, or change your email preferences.
