Guest guest
I am seeing a 60 yo woman with a hx of chronic hip and back pain x 20+ yrs, sensitivity to odors/chem. She has been on fentinyl patch 12mcg/hr, 72 hr patch which she uses for 96 hrs (sens of worms in her belly the 4th day); she uses klonopin and/or xanax for sleep, plus neurontin. She recently was put on trazadone for insomnia, with a lot of SE--urine retention, hypotension, dizziness and disorientation. SE cleared up when she went off the trazadone. Sleep: about 5-6 hrs/night with drugs--wake when meds wear off, take another half dose. Energy: 2/10; don't remember it ever being good. Digestion: Was a vegetarian for 15 yrs. Diet is quite balanced, anti-inflam. Constipation is > now that she does COP. Childhood was a nightmare--taking care of the whole dysfunctional family, cleaning up after drunks. Hypervigilant as a child, staying awake in absolute terror--trying to control, so nothing bad would happen. Acute inflammatory colitis 15 yo. Mood: angry about everything. Despair, feel there's no hope. 4 pregnancies--2 SAB, 1 stillbirth, one preemie, 6 1/2 mos--legally blind. Assessment: Luetic miasm; adrenal fatigue since in utero; endocrine imbalance; liver--chem sens. 12/06, started with magnelevures, iodine, COP, already doing BTG; Ribes and Pinus gemmos. 2 days later she called, withdrawal sx from cutting fentinyl dose in half; added epsom salts baths for detox and insomnia. 1/07 UNDA 9, 30, 1001; biotone 3hs. Deep breathing, warming socks. Her psychologist suggested she take 3 mg melatonin hs. I suggested if she wanted to try melatonin to start with 1 mg (she has had paradoxical rxn to valerian and to tryptophan). Melatonin was traumatic--woke after 20 mins "in a jolt, a shock in my brain, firing, like having brain surgery, zapping like a booster cable in my head." "Horrible dream, like my entire life flashed before my eyes, all the traumas." We decided she shouldn't try the melatonin again. My thinking is that she has been seriously ill for decades and it is going to take a while to get well (obviously). I'm thinking of adding Tilia tomentosa for the anxiety. Flax seeds, fish oil and COP to help her overburdened liver, her digestion, and to reduce inflam. Cont working on nervous system/anxiety/insomnia with undas. Build up her adrenals/stess coping with gemmos. Would it be premature to use unda 202 + luesinum? She is responding to tx as far as I can tell (if the darned md's would stop trying to poison her--which I think will happen--the melatonin ordeal was quite convincing). What about homeopathic melatonin--has anyone used that for something like this? What about some of the organos? Or am I just letting her impatience get the better of me? I think we're making progress, which makes her want MORE! Any thoughts or feedback would be welcome. I promised her that I would present her case to some of the best minds in natural medicine, and now I have. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Terry- Hope you're keeping warm up there!!! Sounds like what you're doing is serving her well so far. You may consider Epiphysinum 4CH 10gtt at bedtime...or, start slowly because of her paradoxical reactions and see how she does with one drop...then two...etc. Also Aroma #23 can work wonders for anxiety and agitation. Dr. Gueniot talks about using Ignatia for stress in people who display paradoxical reactions ...and it fits in with the picture of protracted greif. You'd probably want to start with a low dose as a drainage remedy (4-5CH or 30K) every other day, maybe compliment it with a nervous system drainer like homeopathic alfalfa or passiflora (also in low potency). Ignatia is a major luetic remedy, so if she responds well, and it seems to fit the case and her temperament (Ignatia is a nervous temperament remedy), you could consider slowly increasing the potency and using it less frequently (200K every other Sunday). Sounds like she's going to need long term gentle drainage...good luck! Guest guest
Hi , Ah, the joys of wood heat! And we finally (barely) have enough snow for cross country skiing. What wonderful suggestions! Thank you so much! How about passiflora plex which, I notice, has ignatia 8x in it? She is so desperate for hope, which I have been giving her, but I think this will be a very nice boost for her. --tlc"C. P." wrote: Hi Terry- Hope you're keeping warm up there!!!
