I'm sorry I can't be of help in finding a cardiologist but you, Aidan and your

family are in my prayers.

Heart help needed

Hi everyone,

It is my turn to ask for help! lol

As most of you know, my grandson, Aidan has VATER syndrome. VATER

syndrome is an acronym for many medical conditions. Aidan's Aorta is

on the wrong side. When he was about 5 months old the doctors

stitched his aorta to his chest cavity in hopes to open his trachea

which was collapsing. This was a experimental surgery and the

doctors do not know of any other of it's kind. Now, Aidan must have

external heart surgery in order to close 2 major holes. The problem

is, they have to remove the stitches from the Aorta before they can

remove his heart. The doctors do not know of anyone who has

preformed this surgery before because it was experimental in the

first place. When they remove these stitches, Aidan could

immediately bleed to death if they do it wrong. I would like to ask

that those of you who have dealt with cardiologists to please call

your cardiologist and ask if he/she knows any way to reduce the

risks of this surgery. Aidan is in a very good hospital, Texas

Childrens, but, even some of the best don't know all the answers.

Perhaps your doctor will have the answer!
