Guest guest
Which hotel in Vegas? Angel De Fazio President/Executive Director NTEF Russian Documentary on Mold on the Mir Space Station We are finishing our work on translating the Russian video documentary on mold and the Mir Space station. It is a fascinating 90 film with lots of rare and new information and includes a history of mold stories unique to Russia. For example, did you know that the Great ordered all wooden bridges to be covered with butterfat to prevent the wood from rotting? This would make a great presentation at IAQA in Las Vegas in 2012. Guest guest
Bob You are in an interesting spot when you look back at the problem of mold and the old Russian space station. they were then, as they are still to some degree, very much interested in controlling the release of information on any design and maintenance error. When I sent a message to NASA on the likelihood of a similar problem in the new International Space Station I got no response; maybe it is all a common bureaucratic reality. I left the space program shortly after they fried the only astronaut with a last name like mine, White, and penned White's First Law, which now reads "The primary purpose of a bureaucrat is to prevent anything getting done; you can't be blamed for it going wrong if you never let it happen in the first place." This is behind much of the communications blackout from governments, I believe. Anyway, I am really looking forward to that report, once the translation has been completed. Congratulations on getting a useful job. It should cause quite a stir! Guest guest
Angel, The 2012 expo, sponsored by ACCA, IAQA and RPA, will be held March 5-7, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada.I don't think IAQA has announced the hotel yet. However, since their conference are now combined with ACCA and RPA, it most likely will be at the LV Convention Center or some other very large conference center hotel. Bob Which hotel in Vegas? Guest guest
Jim, I have a number of friends who worked at NASA and on the ISS. We have discussed these issues and the design changes and methods for hopefully preventing similar conditions on the ISS. This was a fundamental design criteria in the ISS shell design and ventilation. So far, these design changes appear to have been working. Guest guest
Thanks for the update Bob. As it used to be at the Rio which has been on our toxic hotel list for 3 years. Before you say anything, if the hotel wasn't toxic they would have tried to sue the NTEF to have the statement removed from our website. Since none of the hotels we have determined to be toxic to those with various disabilities have tried to file an injunction, they apparently, can't prove that our allegations are false. As these are major hotel/casino chains here in Vegas. If the 6th richest man in the US, Sheldon Adelson, (owner of the Sands Expo, Venetian and Palazzo) can't refute it, there has to be a fair amount of merit to us that their over priced attorneys can't overcome. Plus our paper trail is highly damaging to them. It has now escalated to the point, 3 hotels have had US DOJ written complaints filed against them as being toxic in regards to ADA barrier issues. Time will tell if the feds decide to sue them for title III violations. As I am waiting on their decision before I personally file. As one of the properties we referenced has a pending EEOC complaint active regarding the same issues. With other employees about to file complaints. The union has also been monitoring the barrier/toxic complaints by members.
