Guest guest
Zoe, I have noticed if I can manage my fatigue my brainfog isnt so bad. I take ginseng 1-2 times a day. one in the morning and 1 in the after noon as needed. I really enjoy the ginsana brand but Im sure any kind will work, and its not quite as expensive as other supplements. I didnt have any adverse effects and niacin and caffine make me jittery and give me cold sweats. My dr said that he recommends it to a lot of his patients too. Good luck on your brain fog control. Zoe Zoe, You may want to add potassium and (sea) salt to your supplement protocol. These 2 with magnesium and calcium taken throughout the day (rather than one a day multi-vitamin) are 4 of most important electrolytes. Potassium is hard to overdose on since minimum daily requirement is 1,500 mg and each (non-prescription) pill is only 99 mg. I also find reclining, head back, feet up, especially helpful with brainfog, able to read, comprehend, remember what I've read while reclining. Being upright or holding, say, a phone up to my ear causes blood to drain from head, neck, shoulders, arms. This means neurons of my brain miss each other due to lack of lubrication and, Bingo!, brainfog or cogfog. Lubrication in this case means body fluids draining due to my body's inability to fight gravity. Same thing happens with a bad flu, body working to drain fluids to fight the invader by flushing it out and killing it with fever (fever usually comes first). It's like having chronic flu with many of the inherent symptoms but chronically. Drinking more water also helps with brainfog especially when taken with electrolytes which you are doing except, maybe, for salt and potassium. I am up to 3 quarts a day. I know I drink this amount because I now drink 3 quart bottles of Canada Dry club soda per day since last winter's flu, sinus infection and cough. Club Soda is water and 3 different kinds of potassium, very helpful. It's an increase of at least 1-1/2 quarts a day. There's also research suggesting bending our heads over a desk cuts off circulation to brain through the tiniest capillaries of our bodies which are in neck. Dr Les Simpson, researcher, NZ, suggests Salmon Oil capsules full of Omega 3 helps passage of misshapen red blood cells through the tiny capillaries in neck. Misshapen red blood cells have been found in people with our conditions and other conditions like MS, Diabetes. Other rich sources of Omega 3 oils are wild trout, wild salmon, and, sardines. toni http://cf-alliance.tripod.com/ from iPodTouch
Guest guest
Does anyone just try resting or pacing activities? Guest guest
I have been driving in the car when I couldn't remember where I was or where I was going--everything looked unfamiliar to me-I was petrified.I pulled my car over and called home and they helped me,reminded me etc...then I hit a curb and all I could think was what if someone had been standing there with a baby carriage or something. When I told my Doc what had just happened(thats where I was going to) she just shook her head and told me it is all apart of your illness.I did turn over my driving licsense to my car---I choose not to drive unless it is an extreme emergency. The forgetfulness comes and goes...not much you can do.......REST-- yes that does work for me most times......Lynn > > > I am suffering with brainfog right now...wondering if anyone takes > > something to help it pass quicker. > > I already take co-q10, magnesium, vit d, vit c, acidophulous, > > calcium, and I give myself vit b injections. > > Thanks for listening. Guest guest
When I have a bout of brain fog, I find my glucose is too low, I'm stressed from outside sources. My daily vitamins and minerals Mucinex 1200 mgs. 2bid, Chromium, Selenium, Calcium, Omega-3, Vit D, Vit C, Zinc & Chromium. I've been taking this combination for years. My hair and nails grow like crazy. 1. I have a q's for anyone that cares to reply. 2. Does it take you extra time to get things done? 3. To walk into the grocery store or walmart? 4. To bend over and pick up a load of laundry from the floor? 5. To get ready for your day especially in the morning ? 6. To fix " any meals " from the family or yourself? 7. To bathe, fix your hair, 8. To do laundry in a decent time frame (unlike me) 9. Does it feel like you're walking under water? or on sand? 10. Does a low pressure weather front moving into your area make the tops of your head sore? 11.Are relations a regular part of your married life? 12. Can you sit any longer than an hour on a hard bench 13. Drive any further than an hour? A lot of questions and some are strange, please take it in stride and consider the source, a sick 56 yr old woman with a lot of health problems and if you have any interest in knowing further information please feel free to write to me. Guest guest
Hi Sandy, I am totally single, so I will answer N/A to any of the Q's in that regard, but YES to all the others. I was hit by a truck while bicycling in 1990 and sustained a moderate TBI so I had been blaming my brain fogs on that... then since about 2005 I had been getting progressively more exhausted, sore, achy and gained a lot of weight and even more after severely injuring my left foot and ankle (still injured). After complaining to my docs about all this for 2-3 years, finally one of them found I had Hashimoto's and then Thyroid Cancer. I had a total thyroidectomy in 2008 and everyone told me I would be as good as new once I started the Synthroid.... that didn't happen, and now I have been dx'd with FM, EBV, and possibly CFS. The brain fogs continue and now I think they may be part of that, not the TBI. All of the symptoms you describe plague me, and it is extremely challenging to explain to anyone who does not experience them - my family thinks I should just *get better* and I was treated as a *disciplinary problem* at work and nearly fired until I found a doctor who put me on short term disability. I am now done with that and as of May 1st, trying to get long term disability to cover me until I do get better. You have my empathy... I know exactly what alll that feels like, and it is very challenging. Kind regards, -----Original Message----- When I have a bout of brain fog, I find my glucose is too low, I'm stressed from outside sources.
